We are nine students, five girls and four boys, from the Hohe Landesschule Hanau. Our names are Amy Brown, Annika Euler, Lea Euler, Yelda Balikci, Charlotte Aden, Felix Koglin, Tobias Prüßmeier and Luca Buchczyk. We are all in 12th grade and graduate in 2018. We are a mix of advanced politics and economics class and business science class.

Individually or as team we were already able to gain experiences in different kinds of projects. Our supportive teacher Mister Stefan Prochnow is not only our favorite tutor, he is also student director of our school. With him we participated in many other projects that made us grow together as a group.

This year it finally happens!

 

As the first team of our school we participate in YES! –

Young Economic Summit 2017. The moment we heard about the project we immediately started forming our team and applying. Because we deal with political topics in school and some of us even at home, it was clear that our YES! Topic would be a more political one too. That is why we were very happy to hear that our wish got granted and that we are now able to work on the topic we wanted the most. The topic is: “European Integration and the rise of national populist parties”

 

The topic is not only extremely current it is also very tricky in times of AfD, Front National and FPÖ. Current votes make us hold our breaths again and again.  For example in the Netherlands where the rightpopulist party Geert Wilders lost. But we as the team from the Hohe Landesschule Hanau do not want to rely on any outcome of a vote. We want to show the people the possible consequences of a rise of national populist parties.
